Become:City is the exciting Student wing to the new City:Base, a base for Prayer and Mission planted into Sheffield City Centre about a year ago. We are still really young and things are still taking shape, but this just means City:Base is a really exciting place to belong as a disciple of Jesus.
We are a small (but growing - and growing through the spontaneous expansion of the Church!) community of disciples, we're a family who gather monthly together as a whole church, but meet weekly to pray together and encounter the father together in our prayer room and also as Simple Churches, meeting in homes and practicing family, community and Church together.
Alongside this monthly Whole Church Gathering and weekly Simple Church's... Alternate Sunday evening will host what promises to be an exciting worship encounter... but watch this space for more details...
For more information, to grab a coffee with one of our student team or join the movement (especially if you're new to Sheffield) contact matt@citybase.org or follow me on twitter
The heart of City:Base is to release a movement of Prayer, Justice and Mission into every subculture of the city...
Prayer: "Prayer is at the centre of everything we do. We hope to establish a city wide house of 24/7 prayer, this is the Lords word to us, however at the moment we are focussing on building a culture of prayer among our members.
Justice: following Jesus and establishing Justice are inseparable to us as followers of Jesus. We are committed to this being a central part of what we are building… if you've got a heart for justice, for preaching good news to the poor and binding up the broken hearted, we do too and want to be a platform for God's justice to be known in Sheffield.
Mission: Mission, for us is simple following Jesus' instructions in Luke 10 and Matthew 10, to go out and plant simple expressions of Church's around people where they are… not removing people from their networks but providing a way for the gospel to spread organically and the Church to spontaneously expand.
